Description
In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and California State University Stanislaus intend to repatriate 20 cultural items that are objects of cultural patrimony affiliated with the Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission Indians. These items include pottery sherds and groundstone items removed from the Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission Indians Reservation land in San Diego County, California. The repatriation may occur on or after September 30, 2026, and requests for repatriation can be submitted by affiliated Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants.
