This notice announces the completion of an inventory of associated funerary objects by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, in partnership with the National Park Service (Department of the Interior), under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). - Government Buyer: - Mississippi Department of Archives and History - In coordination with the National Park Service, Department of the Interior - No OEMs or commercial vendors are involved, as this is not a procurement or solicitation - Products/Artifacts Identified: - 22 lots of associated funerary objects, including: - Fired clay - Beads - Ceramics - Lithics - Soil samples - Finescreen - Daub - Shell - Ochre - Organic materials - Faunal bone awls - Native American ceramics - Artifacts recovered from multiple archaeological sites: Hollywood, Mhoon Landing/Perry, Ingomar, Ware, Tom Harris Place, Blue Lake, Crawford, and Mothershead - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Objects are culturally affiliated with The Chickasaw Nation - No human remains are present in this inventory - Notice outlines the process for repatriation requests by lineal descendants, Indian Tribes, or Native Hawaiian organizations - This is a compliance action under NAGPRA, not a procurement opportunity

Description

This notice announces the completion of an inventory of associated funerary objects by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identifies cultural affiliation between these funerary objects and The Chickasaw Nation. The objects include various lots of artifacts such as fired clay, beads, ceramics, lithics, and other materials from multiple archaeological sites. Repatriation of these objects may occur on or after September 30, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted to the authorized representative.
