Description
The Atchison County Historical Society has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified human remains representing at least two Native American individuals with a cultural affiliation to the Kaw Nation, Oklahoma. The remains were found in 2025 in a box at the Society, with one skull previously repatriated in 2016. Repatriation of the remains may occur on or after September 30, 2026.
