The City of Torrance Public Works Department is seeking bids for the Citywide Sidewalk Repair Program along Hawthorne Boulevard, covering a 5-mile stretch recently transferred from Caltrans. - Government Buyer: - City of Torrance Public Works Department - Scope of Work: - Removal and replacement of damaged sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveways, and curb ramps - Upgrading curb ramps to current accessibility standards - Tree root pruning, tree removal, and installation of new parkway trees - Installation of detectable warning surfaces, new signs, and sign posts - Grinding concrete sidewalks and replacing asphalt concrete surface courses - Construction surveying, survey monuments, traffic control, NPDES compliance, and biological surveys for tree removal - Plant establishment and maintenance for 180 calendar days - Products/Services Requested: - Over 10,000 SF of sidewalk replacement, 740 LF of curb and gutter, 5,880 SF of driveway approach, 850 curb ramps, 28 trees removed and replaced, 17 signs, and 12 sign posts - Mobilization, construction schedule, unclassified excavation and fill - Unique Requirements: - Contractors must hold a valid California Class A license and be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations - Compliance with prevailing wage laws - All work must be completed within 60 working days from Notice to Proceed - Plant establishment and maintenance period of 180 calendar days - No specific OEMs or commercial vendors are named; the solicitation is open to qualified construction contractors.

Description

This project involves upgrading local sidewalk infrastructure along Hawthorne Boulevard, a 5-mile stretch between Redondo Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway, following its relinquishment from Caltrans to the City of Torrance. The scope includes replacing damaged sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and gutters, as well as upgrading curb ramps to current standards. Parkway trees and roots affecting the sidewalks will be trimmed, pruned, or replaced. The project requires a Class A contractor license and must be completed within 60 working days. Bids are to be submitted electronically by September 23, 2026.
