The City of Austin, through its Austin Water department and Central Procurement - Capitol Procurement Division, is seeking qualified engineering firms to provide professional services for the Gilleland Wastewater Interceptor project. - Project Overview: - Construction of approximately 7,800 feet of 30-inch and 7,600 feet of 36-inch gravity sewer interceptors in the Western Gilleland Basin - Replacement of the Coomer Path Lift Station due to insufficient capacity for current and projected flows - Scope of Services: - Preliminary engineering, route analysis, and alignment determination - Final design, geotechnical investigations, tunnel engineering, and preparation of plans/specifications - Permitting, environmental evaluations, and easement acquisition support - Bidding phase assistance, including advertising, pre-bid meetings, and bid evaluation - Construction phase services: site visits, resident project representation, review of shop drawings/change orders, as-built drawings, pay estimate reviews - Warranty phase services for post-construction support - Additional services: surveying, utility locating, traffic and transportation engineering, cost estimating, drainage engineering, real estate/land consulting - Notable Requirements: - Demonstrated experience in municipal wastewater infrastructure, tunneling, and complex urban projects - Compliance with City of Austin's Minority-Owned and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE) participation goals - Comprehensive compliance plan, insurance coverage, and vendor registration with the City - Estimated contract value: - Professional services fee: $4 million - Construction cost: $28 million - No specific OEMs or vendors are named; solicitation is open to qualified engineering firms - Period of performance includes preliminary engineering (12 months), design (30 months), bidding (6 months), construction (24 months), and warranty (12 months)

Description

This project involves constructing approximately 7,730 linear feet of 30-inch gravity interceptor and approximately 7,610 linear feet of 36-inch gravity interceptor in the Western Gilleland Basin. The objective is to provide a gravity interceptor to eliminate the existing Coomer Path Lift Station, which has insufficient capacity for current and future flows. The project includes preliminary engineering, design, permitting, bidding, construction phase services, and warranty phase services. The selected consultant will provide professional engineering services including civil, environmental, structural, geotechnical, and tunnel engineering.
