Description

The U.S. Coast Guard is withdrawing the Notice of Intent to prepare a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for the consideration of acceptance of one or more viability testing methods for type approval of ballast water management systems. The original notice was published on August 21, 2024, and this withdrawal is effective as of August 27, 2026. The Coast Guard re-evaluated the purpose and need for the proposed action and determined there is insufficient information to evaluate the proposed viability test methods. The NEPA review process is terminated, and future reviews will be conducted as necessary according to current Coast Guard policy.
