This opportunity concerns a proposed regulatory change, not a procurement: - The Coast Guard (Department of Homeland Security) is proposing a temporary modification to the operating schedule of the S.R. 74 Drawbridge in Wrightsville Beach, NC. - The bridge owner is the North Carolina Department of Transportation. - No OEMs, vendors, products, or services are involved; this is a notice for public comment on a rule change. - The modification is intended to alleviate vehicle congestion during nearby bridge construction. - The drawbridge will open for vessel passage only on the hour between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., with exceptions for certain commercial and emergency vessels. - Upon completion of construction, the bridge will return to its normal schedule. - Notable requirements: scheduled hourly openings, exceptions for commercial towing, dredging, marine construction, and emergency vessels with advance notice.

Description

The Coast Guard proposes to temporarily modify the operating schedule for the S.R. 74 Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW), mile 283.1, at Wrightsville Beach, NC. This modification is necessary to alleviate vehicle traffic congestion caused by the replacement and lane reductions of two nearby bridges during construction. The S.R. 74 Drawbridge will return to its normal operating schedule upon completion of the construction project. The proposed rule invites public comments until September 28, 2026.
