NASA Glenn Research Center's Icing Branch is seeking custom carbon fiber propellers and related components for testing under a Space Act Agreement. - Procurement includes: - Three 3-bladed carbon fiber propellers (0.5 meter diameter) - Custom twist and chord distributions - Blades individually removable, each not exceeding 150 g - Designed for 4250 RPM max with safety factor of 1.5 - One variable pitch hub - Allows ground-adjustable pitch, locks at discrete angles - Pitch deviation within +/- 0.1 - Compatible with KDE8218XF-120 electric motor - Designed for 4250 RPM max with safety factor of 1.5 - Two carbon fiber spinners (94 mm diameter) - Attach to variable pitch hub - Geometry provided by NASA - Test reports - Overspin test report: verifies operation at 20% above max RPM for 30 minutes - Static centrifugal load test report: determines max centrifugal load via tensile failure test - CAD models from 3D scans of propeller blades - All deliverables must be completed within 5-6 months from contract award. - MEJZLIK PROPELLERS S.R.O. is identified as the sole source provider, but NASA is accepting capability statements from other vendors. - NAICS code: 336413 (Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing) - No specific part numbers provided; all items are custom-designed for compatibility and safety.

Description

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for Design, fabrication, and delivery of a custom, 0.5-meter diameter carbon fiber propeller required for international SAA. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to MEJZLIK PROPELLERS S.R.O. Samalova 1537/60A  Zidenice  Brno 615 00 Czechia  under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that   MEJZLIK PROPELLERS S.R.O.   is the sole provider of Design, fabrication, and delivery of a custom, 0.5-meter diameter carbon fiber propeller required for international SAA.

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Glenn Research Center (GRC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 336413.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 8/31/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
