New England Fishery Management Council Public Meeting on Scallop Fishery Management

This is a public hybrid meeting organized by the New England Fishery Management Council under NOAA to discuss scallop fishery management in the New England exclusive economic zone (EEZ). - Meeting will bring together the Scallop Joint Advisory Panel and Plan Development Team - Focus areas include: - Setting Acceptable Biological Catch (ABC) and Annual Catch Limits (ACL) - Determining days-at-sea and access area allocations - Establishing total allowable landings for the Northern Gulf of Maine management area - Setting targets for General Category incidental catch - Reviewing access area trips, trip accounting, and set-asides for observer and research programs - Discussing measures to delineate management areas - Reviewing a draft 3-Year Work Plan for the Scallop Strategic Plan - No procurement, products, or services are being solicited - No OEMs, vendors, or contract values are involved

The New England Fishery Management Council is scheduling a public hybrid meeting of its Scallop Joint Advisory Panel and Plan Development Team to consider actions affecting New England fisheries in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ). The meeting will focus on developing input on potential specification alternatives for fishing years 2027 and 2028, including setting Acceptable Biological Catch/Annual Catch Limits, days-at-sea, access area allocations, and other management measures. Recommendations from this group will be brought to the full Council for formal consideration and action, if appropriate. The meeting will be held virtually and in person at the Hilton Garden Inn Boston Logan.
