NASA GSFC Sole Source Procurement of Ion Gun System from HIDEN ANALYTICAL INC

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Astrochemistry Lab is seeking to procure a specialized ion gun system for experimental analysis of radiation effects on regolith samples. - Sole source procurement is planned with HIDEN ANALYTICAL INC, the identified OEM. - The required system includes: - Ion gun head - Monitoring and control hardware - Gas manifold compatible with multiple gases (including oxygen and argon) - Mechanical bellows adjuster for beam positioning - Differential pumping module with total pressure gauge - Spare filament kits - Technical specifications: - Beam energy range: 0.5 to 5.0 keV - Spot size: 100 micron - Current density: 0.1 to 800 nA - Oxygen compatibility - Neutral dump and beam scanning features - Easily replaceable twin filaments - DN35 Conflat flange mounting - The system will integrate with the Space REDI chamber and Hiden EQS-1000 SIMS/SNMS instrument. - Equipment to be purchased in FY26 with an estimated 4-month lead time after order placement. - The procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 and is for a commercial item. - Interested vendors may submit their qualifications, but NASA may proceed with sole source acquisition.

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for HAL IG20 OXYGEN/Argon ION Gun. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to HIDEN ANALYTICAL INC, Peterborough, New Hampshire 03458-1118, under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that HIDEN ANALYTICAL INC is the sole provider of HAL IG20 OXYGEN/Argon ION Gun

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 334516.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 8/28/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
