Description

The Field Museum of Natural History has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified human remains representing at least one individual with a cultural affiliation to the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians in Michigan. The human remains consist of hair clippings collected for the 1893 Worlds Columbian Exposition and accessioned in 1939. Repatriation of the human remains may occur on or after September 23, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the Field Museum's NAGPRA Director.
