The University of Minnesota's Polar Geospatial Center is seeking proposals for a scalable object-based storage solution to support its remote-sensing imagery and digital elevation products. - Government Buyer: - University of Minnesota, Polar Geospatial Center - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation - Products/Services Requested: - Object-based storage solution with at least 40 petabytes (PiB) of usable capacity - Must be scalable to accommodate future growth as funding and requirements increase - Designed for frequent access and nearline storage of large geospatial datasets - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Solution must support high-frequency data access and be reliable for mission-critical geospatial workloads - Two design paths considered: cloud (with optional hybrid on-premise) and on-premise only - Compliance with University data security standards is mandatory - Strict submission guidelines, including review of supplier instructions and data security requirements
Description
The Polar Geospatial Center intends to purchase an object-based storage solution with at least 40PiB of usable capacity initially, scalable as funding and requirements increase. The solution aims to provide a reliable and modernized storage platform focused on performance and growth. The data primarily consists of remote-sensing imagery and digital elevation products, accessed frequently and treated as nearline storage rather than deep archive. Two design paths are considered: a cloud solution with optional on-premise hybrid, and an on-premise only solution.
