This notice concerns the intended repatriation of cultural items by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the National Park Service and Department of the Interior. - Government Buyer: - California Department of Parks and Recreation - National Park Service - Department of the Interior - Cultural Items for Repatriation: - 873 lots of objects of cultural patrimony - Types include asphaltum, ceramic artifacts, flaked stone artifacts, groundstone, modified bone, organic ecofacts, and unidentified missing material - Some items are attached to display mounts - Cultural Affiliation: - Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation - Eligible Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations may submit written requests - Unique Requirements: - Repatriation process governed by NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) - California Department of Parks and Recreation will determine the appropriate requestor in case of competing claims - No OEMs or commercial vendors involved; this is not a procurement or contract opportunity

Description

The California Department of Parks and Recreation intends to repatriate 873 lots of cultural items that are objects of cultural patrimony with cultural affiliation to Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. These items include asphaltum, ceramic artifacts, flaked stone artifacts, groundstone, modified bone, organic ecofacts, and unidentified missing material. The repatriation process may begin on or after September 23, 2026. Requests for repatriation can be submitted by lineal descendants, Indian Tribes, or Native Hawaiian organizations showing cultural affiliation. The Department is responsible for determining the appropriate requestor if competing requests are received.
