Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums at Garvies Point Museum and Preserve has completed an inventory of human remains. They have determined a cultural affiliation between the human remains and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The inventory includes remains of three individuals of Native American ancestry with no associated funerary objects. The affiliated tribes include the Delaware Nation, Oklahoma; Delaware Tribe of Indians; and the Stockbridge Munsee Community, Wisconsin. Repatriation of the human remains may occur on or after September 23, 2026.
