The University of Texas at Austin, Texas Archeological Research Laboratory (TARL) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains of at least 119 individuals and 18,934 associated funerary objects from multiple archaeological sites in Lamar County, historically associated with the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes. The notice establishes a cultural affiliation between these remains and objects and the identified Indian Tribes. Repatriation may occur on or after September 23, 2026.
