Description
The National Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Response System receives federal funding to support the administration, program and grant management, training, exercise, procurement of vehicles and equipment, and maintenance for 28 national task forces. These task forces maintain readiness independent of Sponsoring Agency funding and provide federal support to state, local, and tribal territories in response to natural and man-made incidents. The program focuses on mass search and rescue operations and stabilization and restoration of community lifelines following incidents. The funding is provided through cooperative agreements to FEMA-designated Urban Search and Rescue Task Force Sponsoring Agencies.
