Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating potential Remote Monitoring and Maintenance Capability (RMMC) systems for PAPI, REIL, ALSF-2 and MALSR Visual Guidance Lighting Systems (VGLS). The FAA currently utilizes a Conversion Appliance Service System (CASS) to provide Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) to Internet Protocol (IP) conversion, which will interface with RMLS as the final destination for data transmission. The RICI 6000 Product Sheet has been provided as an attachment to this Market Survey and can be referenced for further information on the CASS System.
The FAA is requesting information from industry regarding current technology that could function as an interface between the VGLS and the CASS for the transmission of RMMC data. The FAA would like to transmit up to 30 data points per system (PAPI, REIL, ALSF-2 and MALSR), which could be analog or digital signals. Specifically, the FAA would like the industry to help answer the following questions:
Is there any non-development items that exist to interface with VGLS and CASS to transmit data? What is the level of effort required to develop an interface with the VGLS to transmit data? Are there any innovative solutions to provide RMMC to VGLS? What would the Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate be for implementing the proposed solution?
