Description
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is proposing to withdraw the international airport designation of Chalk Seaplane Base, now operating as Miami Seaplane Base. The facility has not complied with CBP regulatory and security standards, and the volume of business does not justify continued inspection operations. The objective is to use personnel, facilities, and resources more efficiently and improve service to carriers, importers, and the public. CBP has stopped processing international arrivals at this base since May 2021 due to noncompliance and low passenger volume, redirecting flights to nearby Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airports.
