USDA Forest Service Solicits Tomahawk Road Repairs and Culvert Installations in Superior National Forest

The USDA Forest Service is seeking contractors for extensive repairs and upgrades to Tomahawk Road (FR377) in Superior National Forest, Minnesota. - Government Buyer: - USDA Forest Service, Laurentian Ranger District, CSA East 13 - Superior National Forest, Kawishiwi and Tofte Ranger Districts - Scope of Work: - Traffic control, mobilization, and temporary traffic management - Removal and installation of multiple polymeric coated corrugated steel culverts (various sizes and gauges) - Sizes include 18", 21"x15", 24", and 36" diameters, lengths from 28' to 40' - Installation of T-posts at each culvert end, painting top 1 ft orange, and disposal of existing culverts - Aggregate surfacing for erosion repair and road surfacing (quantities up to 1,210 cubic yards, plus optional 1,000 cubic yards) - Ditching and drainage excavation (over 10,000 linear feet) - Cleaning culverts in place and erosion repair with Riprap Class 3 - Installation of object marker signs (OM3-L Type 3, aluminum) - Products/Line Items: - Polymeric coated corrugated steel culverts (multiple sizes and quantities) - Aggregate surface course, Riprap Class 3, T-posts, object marker signs - Notable Requirements: - All culverts must be polymeric coated steel, 14 or 12 gauge, contractor furnished - T-posts installed 4 ft from each end, top 1 ft painted orange for visibility - Disposal of removed culverts offsite - Work hours are Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding federal holidays - Set aside for small business concerns under NAICS 237310 - Estimated Contract Value: - $250,000 to $500,000 - No specific OEMs are named, but the technical specifications require polymeric coated steel culverts, which are commonly manufactured by companies such as Contech Engineered Solutions, Lane Enterprises, and Pacific Corrugated Pipe Company.

Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12.  This announcement constitutes the only solicitation.  Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.  

Solicitation number 12445526Q0130 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Tomahawk road repairs include traffic control; removal of the existing culverts; installation of new culverts; furnishing, hauling and spreading of crushed aggregate surfacing; ditching; and other miscellaneous construction activities as described in the Forest Service Supplemental Specifications to the FP-24, the Federal Highway FP-24 Specifications, and the drawing plans.   

This acquisition is set-aside for small business concerns.  The applicable North American Industry Classification Standard Code is 237310  The small business size standard is 45M.  This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-Aside.  All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by the agency.
