Description
This RFQ is for geotechnical borings associated with the design and construction of Gallinas Canyon Road. The geotechnical investigation will gather subsurface data to inform the 30% project design and cost estimate. The program includes nineteen (19) planned boreholes. These boreholes fall into two categories: corridor characterization and bridge investigation.
Project Locations and Descriptions: The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Central Federal Lands Highway Division, and the Forest Service are partnering to reconstruct a portion of FR 263, Gallinas Canyon Road. This reconstruction project includes roadway resurfacing, widening, and realignment. The realignment incorporates options for several bridge replacements and rock cuts.
Gallinas Canyon lies within San Miguel County, NM. The project alignment begins at Burro Basin Trailhead and proceeds East for approximately 6 miles to the intersection of FR 263 and FR 156. The existing alignment consists of a narrow, winding road that crosses 15 bridges.
