The City of St. Helena Department of Public Works is seeking bids for the Oak Avenue Surface Improvement Project, a comprehensive roadway and sidewalk rehabilitation initiative. - Government Buyer: - City of St. Helena, Department of Public Works - Contact: Mario Traverso - Scope of Work: - Removal and installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalk - Pavement grinding (70,000 SF of 2" grind) and overlays (974 tons of 2.5" HMA) - Utility modifications, including installation and adjustment of water meter boxes (11 new B16, 22 adjusted), sanitary sewer boxes (3 new G5, 24 existing adjusted), and curb inlets - Roadway striping and markings (2,000 SF white thermoplastic, 1,100 SF yellow thermoplastic, 1,796 LF centerline striping) - ADA curb ramps (10 units), accessible parking marking and signage - Tree removal (various sizes), stump grinding (6 units), and new tree planting (4 City Sprite Zelcova, 4 Chinese Pistache) - Concrete driveway (2,052 SF), sidewalk (16,000 SF), curb and gutter (3,400 LF) - Traffic control, temporary business access, signage, and bench removal/reinstallation - Notable Requirements: - Contractors must hold a valid Class A license - Compliance with California prevailing wage laws - Detailed technical specifications and special provisions must be followed - Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day for delays - No specific OEMs or proprietary products are required; standard construction materials and components are specified - Estimated Contract Value: - Approximately $2,250,000 - Period of Performance: - 60 working days from Notice to Proceed (weather delays excluded) - No pre-bid meeting; site is accessible for viewing - Bids must be submitted to the City Clerk electronically or physically

Description

The project involves removing and installing curb, gutter, and sidewalk; pavement grinding; overlays; utility modifications; roadway striping; and other miscellaneous tasks as detailed in the plans, specifications, and contract documents. The work shall be performed in accordance with the provided plans and contract documents. The construction is estimated to be completed within 90 working days from the Notice to Proceed. The engineer's estimate for the project is $2,250,000. Bids are due by September 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
