Description
This regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of calcium carbonate (CAS # 471-34-1) in or on all food commodities when used according to label directions and good agricultural practices. Columbia River Carbonates petitioned the EPA under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for this exemption. The regulation eliminates the need to set a maximum permissible level for calcium carbonate residues in food commodities. The EPA has determined that there is a reasonable certainty of no harm from aggregate exposure to calcium carbonate residues, including for infants and children.
