Description

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3CP002-30 to Petersburg Borough for the operation of a Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill (MSWLF) and a Biosolids Treatment Facility. The 40-acre landfill site allows disposal of construction and demolition, inert, municipal, and sewage solids. The biosolids treatment facility uses aerated turned pile or aerated static pile composting methods to treat approximately 40 tons of sewage solids per year. Both facilities serve the city and borough of Petersburg and its 3,394 residents.
