The Town of Wells, Maine is seeking bids for the construction and finishing of a second floor office space at the Wells Harbor Shellfish Lab. - Government Buyer: - Town of Wells, Office of the Town Manager - Scope of Work: - Complete construction and finishing of a second floor office space - Framing of an interior load bearing wall - Installation of a circular staircase with two half walls - Construction of a 4x4 cantilevered deck with handrails and balusters compliant with local building code - Siding and trim replacement to match existing structures - Installation of three 4x6 beams as collar ties - Installation of insulation (provided on site) - Drywall installation - Comprehensive electrical work, including: - 8 wafer lights, 8 brackets, 4 wall packs - Bath fan light and vent - GFI receptacle, 8 computer jacks - 30 amp condenser circuit, 45 drops, 45 Decora devices - Installation of a heat pump system (18K indoor wall unit, 18K AC condenser, stand, pad, piping, and pipe cover) - Installation of vinyl snap-together plank flooring - Interior trim work, including 4 skylights, 5 windows, 1 door, and baseboard - Unique Requirements: - Mandatory pre-construction meeting and site walk for all bidders - Proof of insurance and compliance with OSHA and Maine DOL requirements - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation - All tools, labor, and materials (except insulation) must be provided by the contractor

Description

Sealed bids are being solicited for the Shellfish Lab Second Floor Office project located at the Wells Harbor Shellfish Lab. The scope includes framing an interior load bearing wall, installing a circular staircase, constructing a cantilevered deck with handrails, siding and trim replacement, installing beams, insulation, drywall, electrical work including lighting and outlets, a heat pump system, flooring, and interior trim including skylights, windows, and a door. Bids must be submitted to the Office of the Town Manager by September 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. A mandatory pre-construction meeting and site walk will be held on August 26, 2026.
