Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is finalizing a determination that the Illinois portion of the St. Louis, MO-IL nonattainment area has achieved clean data for the 2015 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). This determination is based on complete, quality-assured, and certified ambient air monitoring data for the 2023-2025 design value period and EPA concurrence on an exceptional events request. The final rule suspends certain State Implementation Plan (SIP) requirements related to attainment of the 2015 ozone NAAQS for as long as the area continues to meet the standards. The rule is effective September 14, 2026.
