Notice of Inventory Completion for Associated Funerary Objects at Sonoma State University

This notice announces the completion of an inventory of associated funerary objects at Sonoma State University, in compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). - Government buyer: Sonoma State University, in coordination with the Department of the Interior and National Park Service - No procurement of goods or services is being solicited or awarded - Objects inventoried: One lot of associated funerary objects (soil samples) removed during a 1977 excavation at site CA NAP261 - Cultural affiliation: Cachil DeHe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community of the Colusa Rancheria, Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation of the Cortina Rancheria, and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation - Repatriation process: Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants may submit written requests for repatriation - No hazardous substances were used in the treatment of the objects - Any additional items located in the future will also be repatriated - No OEMs, vendors, or commercial products/services are involved

Description

Sonoma State University has completed an inventory of associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified one lot of associated funerary objects connected to Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The objects are believed to have been placed intentionally with or near individual human remains as part of death rites or ceremonies. Repatriation of these objects may occur on or after September 14, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to Sonoma State University.
