Description

The U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Petersburg National Battlefield intends to carry out the disposition of associated funerary objects removed from Federal or Tribal lands to the lineal descendants, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization with priority for disposition. The objects include white marble grave markers from Poplar Grove National Cemetery, marking graves of soldiers affiliated with Native American tribes. Disposition may occur on or after September 14, 2026, with claims for disposition accepted until August 13, 2027. If no claim is received by then, the objects will become unclaimed.
