This notice concerns the intended repatriation of cultural items by the Autry Museum of the American West (Southwest Museum Collection), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service. - No procurement of goods or services is being solicited or awarded - 136 lots of unassociated funerary objects are identified for repatriation - Items include cooking pots, beads, tools, ornaments, and other artifacts - Objects were collected from sites on Santa Catalina Island, Los Angeles County, California - Affiliated Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations include: - La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians - Pala Band of Mission Indians - Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission Indians of the Pauma & Yuima Reservation - Pechanga Band of Indians - Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians - Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Mission Indians - Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians - Notice issued in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - Outlines process for claims and repatriation of these items - No OEMs, vendors, or commercial products/services are involved

Description

The Autry Museum of the American West (Southwest Museum Collection) intends to repatriate certain cultural items classified as unassociated funerary objects. These items have cultural affiliations with various Indian Tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations. The repatriation may occur on or after September 14, 2026. The items include a variety of artifacts such as cooking pots, beads, tools, and other cultural objects collected from Santa Catalina Island, Los Angeles County, California.
