Description
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Southwest Biological Science Center (SBSC) is offering funding to a CESU partner to develop multi-month forecasts of management-relevant rangeland drought and improve a platform for delivering these forecasts to resource managers across western rangelands. The project aims to develop gridded ecological drought forecasts to help rangeland managers target restoration investments and synthesize establishment requirements for critical restoration species. Deliverables include synthesized information on establishment requirements and continuously updated forecast maps of near-term ecological drought and establishment probabilities for the western US. This project supports priorities related to wildfire management, habitat restoration, sustainable energy, critical mineral development, and regional management decisions.
