Description

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issues a temporary order to schedule O-desmethyltramadol (O-DSMT), including its isomers, esters, ethers, salts, and salts of isomers, esters, and ethers, in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. This action is based on a finding that placing O-DSMT in Schedule I is necessary to avoid an imminent hazard to public safety. The order imposes regulatory controls and sanctions applicable to Schedule I controlled substances on persons who handle or propose to handle O-DSMT. The temporary scheduling order is effective from August 12, 2026, until August 12, 2028, with potential for extension or permanence.
