Description
This solicitation seeks a cooperative agreement to support the U.S. Air Force 673d Civil Engineering Squadron at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) for monitoring prey species composition and salmon productivity relevant to the endangered Cook Inlet Beluga Whale (CIBW). The project aims to characterize fish species in JBER waters, document temporal patterns in prey presence, integrate with regional eDNA monitoring efforts, and develop a long-term prey species monitoring protocol. The base period is 18 months with up to six 18-month follow-on periods, and the work involves environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling, laboratory analysis, and data management. Priority is given to members of the Cooperative Ecosystem Study Units in Alaska, Rocky Mountain, and Pacific Northwest regions, especially Federal and State agencies responsible for fish or wildlife management.
