Description

The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone for navigable waters on the St. Johns River, Jacksonville, FL to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards associated with raising power lines across the river. Entry of vessels or persons into this zone is prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port, Sector Jacksonville, or their designated representative. The safety zone will be effective from July 27, 2026, through March 5, 2027, but only enforced when helicopters are actively engaged in operations across the navigable channel. The Coast Guard invites comments on this interim rule, which is effective without prior notice due to the urgent safety concerns.
