These special conditions are issued for the ATR-GIE Avions de Transport Régional (ATR) Model ATR42-500 and ATR72-212A airplanes, which feature a novel design involving a digital system with wireless and hardwired networks allowing internal access to the airplane's electronic components. The existing airworthiness regulations do not adequately address safety standards for this design feature.
