The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final rule regarding the use of a specific polymer in pesticide formulations: - Government Buyer: - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - Office of Pesticide Programs, Registration Division - OEM/Vendor: - Clariant Corporation (represented by Spring Regulatory Sciences) - Product/Polymer Details: - 2-propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, telomer with 1-dodecanethiol, and 2-methyloxirane polymer with oxirane monoether with 1,2-propanediol mono(2-methyl-2-propenoate) - CAS Number: 1186225-21-7 - Minimum number average molecular weight: 3300 Daltons - Exempted from tolerance requirements when used as an inert ingredient in pesticide chemical formulations - Notable Requirements: - No maximum permissible residue level required for this polymer on food or feed commodities when used as specified - The exemption is based on the polymer's low-risk profile and safety assessment - No procurement or purchase is being made; this is a regulatory action impacting agricultural producers, food manufacturers, and pesticide manufacturers
Description
This regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of 2-propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, telomer with 1-dodecanethiol, and 2-methyloxirane polymer with oxirane monoether with 1,2-propanediol mono(2-methyl-2-propenoate) when used as an inert ingredient in pesticide chemical formulations. The exemption eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of these substances on food or feed commodities. The regulation is effective August 7, 2026, and objections or requests for hearings must be received by October 6, 2026.
