The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) proposes to modify its Privacy Act system of records notices (SORNs) by adding a routine use to four specific SORNs to comply with Executive Order 14249 and OMB Memorandum M-25-32. These changes aim to protect America's bank accounts against fraud, waste, and abuse, and to prevent improper payments while safeguarding privacy through the Do Not Pay system. The FTC is also making technical changes to three of these SORNs. Public comments on the proposed modifications must be submitted by September 8, 2026, and the changes will become effective on October 5, 2026, unless amended or repealed based on comments received.
