Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved revisions to the Public Water System Supervision (PWSS) Programs for the States of Indiana and Illinois under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). Indiana's revisions cover four National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWRs): the Ground Water Rule, Lead and Copper Rule-Short Term Revisions, Long-Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule, and the Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule. Illinois' revisions include adoption of the Filter Backwash Recycling Rule. These approvals grant primary enforcement responsibility to the respective state agencies and are effective subject to public hearing requests by September 8, 2026.
