Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted final authorization to the State of Alaska to operate its hazardous waste program under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This program will operate in lieu of the federal hazardous waste program in Alaska, with the EPA retaining jurisdiction in Indian country and federal areas. The authorization is effective as of August 6, 2026. The EPA reviewed Alaska's application and determined that the state's program is equivalent to, consistent with, and provides adequate enforcement of the federal hazardous waste program requirements.
