NASA Sole Source Procurement of PlaneWave IR DK17 Optical Tubes and Accessories

NASA Glenn Research Center is seeking to procure specialized infrared optical equipment and accessories from PlaneWave Instruments Inc. under a sole source justification. - The procurement includes: - Two IR DK17, 17" F/6.8 Infrared Optimized Dall-Kirkham Optical Tubes with IR gold coatings and cooling fans (part numbers 70120Q and 240901-KIT) - One EFA Kit for focuser, temperature, and fan control (part number T6009003) - One T600 Instrument Plate (part number 6111001) - One Large Coalignment Accessory (part number 200919) - Two Dovetail-Clamp (Saddle), Planewave (part number 170801) - One Dovetail to A200, L-Series or Paramount Versa Plate (part number 600801E) - Custom crating solutions for equipment protection and export - All items are manufactured by PlaneWave Instruments Inc., the only OEM specified and the intended sole source vendor - The procurement is for commercial items under NAICS code 541519 - The period of performance is 30 days after receipt of order (ARO) - Interested parties may submit their qualifications to challenge the sole source determination

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for PlaneWave Instruments IRDK17 and Accessories. 

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to PLANEWAVE INSTRUMENTS INC 1375 N Main ST  Adrian, Michigan 49221-1774, United States  under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that PLANEWAVE INSTRUMENTS INC  is the sole provider of PlaneWave Instruments IRDK17 and Accessories

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Glenn Research Center (GRC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 541519.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 8/10/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
