The USDA Forest Service, Caribbean Climate Hub, is seeking a Field Technician to support vegetation and soil surveys across approximately 32 tropical climate sites in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. - Government Buyer: - US Department of Agriculture (USDA) - USDA Forest Service, Caribbean Climate Hub - USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) (interagency involvement) - Products/Services Requested: - Field Technician services for vegetation and soil sampling at 32 sites/plots - Tasks include field data collection, data entry, and reporting in accordance with NRCS and Forest Service standards - Each plot requires up to 16 hours of work - Deliverables: soil and vegetation data per National Ecological Site Handbook protocols - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Minimum qualifications: at least two years of university education in agricultural/natural sciences and three years of relevant field experience - Government provides sampling equipment and site access - Firm-fixed price contract structure - Work must comply with NRCS and Forest Service data standards - Service area includes Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands - No specific OEMs or commercial product vendors are named; this is a service procurement - No product part numbers or commercial equipment purchases are included

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12.  This announcement constitutes the only solicitation.  Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. 

Solicitation number 12444726Q0038 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for The United States Department of Agriculture Research and Development mission to develop and deliver science that helps farmers, ranchers, and forest managers make appropriate land management decisions to support sustainable services from working lands.
