South Portland Public Arts Committee Solicits Artists for Greenbelt Trail Murals

The City of South Portland Public Arts Committee is seeking proposals from artists to create murals for installation along the Greenbelt public art trail. - Government Buyer: - City of South Portland, Public Arts Committee, Purchasing Agent: Patrick Fitzgerald - Products/Services Requested: - Mural painting services on 4’x8’ wooden surfaces - Each selected artist will be assigned one surface to paint - Artists must use exterior primer, exterior-grade paint, and seal the artwork with anti-graffiti coating - Eligibility & Requirements: - Artists must reside in Maine or have a permanent studio in Maine - Minimum age requirement: 18 years old - Submission must include a mural concept, brief description, and samples of past work - Proof of insurance and contract signature required upon award - $1,200 stipend per artist, paid in two installments ($600 advance, $600 upon completion) - Selection Criteria: - Proposals evaluated on creativity, artist qualifications, and project feasibility - The City may select as many or as few artists as it chooses - No OEMs or commercial vendors are specified, as this is a call for artistic services

The South Portland Public Arts Committee (PAC) is seeking artists to paint murals on paintable wooden 4'x8' surfaces installed along the Greenbelt public art trail in South Portland. Each location will have two surfaces, and each artist will be awarded one surface. Artists must submit a brief description of their proposed mural art, an initial concept idea, and samples of past work. The project requires the use of exterior primer and paint, and the artwork must be sealed with anti-graffiti coating. The submission deadline is August 31, 2026, and proposals must be submitted in PDF format.
