This opportunity is for the comprehensive rehabilitation and safety upgrade of tunnels at Blanchard Springs Caverns, managed by the USDA Forest Service in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. - Government Buyer: - USDA Forest Service, Ozark-St. Francis National Forest - Scope of Work: - Structural stabilization of tunnel entrances and exits, including installation of hundreds of epoxy coated threaded rebar rockbolts (6 ft and 8 ft lengths) and thousands of square feet of geosynthetic mesh - Demolition and replacement of suspended ceilings, timber and steel supports, and various types of doors (airlock, security, bypass) - Application of fiber reinforced shotcrete (multiple thicknesses and cubic yard quantities) - Installation and replacement of extensive handrail systems (multiple types, thousands of linear feet) - Removal and installation of lighting fixtures (hundreds of units, various types including weatherproof and emergency battery models) and associated electrical distribution (panelboards, disconnects, transformers, feeders, and control panels) - Installation of instrumentation and monitoring equipment, including mine phone system and telephone cabinets - All work must comply with detailed drawings and specifications - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Work in Discovery Trail is restricted to a specific annual window due to bat species protection - Cave closures to the public during construction - Specialized demolition, scaling, and cleaning required in sensitive cave environments - No specific OEMs, vendors, or part numbers are identified in the solicitation or attachments.
Description
This project includes all labor, equipment, supplies, testing & inspections, and incidentals necessary for the Blanchard Springs Caverns (BSC) Dripstone and Discovery Trail Infrastructure repairs and safety upgrades. All work shall conform to the attached Drawings and Specifications. All work shall be performed by qualified and licensed contractors for all trades applicable. Work includes but is not limited to structural stabilization of tunnel entrance and exits, disposal and removal of existing supports, masonry repairs, Installation of Instrumentation & monitoring equipment, replacement of existing air lock doors at entrance and exits, replacement of existing security doors at entrance and exits, replacement of existing suspended ceiling system, components, and associated ductwork, replacement of existing bypass tunnel door, replacement of existing lighting and distribution system components, replacement of existing safety handrails, and replacement of the existing mine phone system and components.
