Description
The U.S. Navy has issued a Certificate of Alternate Compliance for the Landing Craft Utility Vessel 1710 Class (LCU 1710 through LCU 1721). These vessels, due to their special construction and purpose, cannot fully comply with the navigation lights provisions of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 (72 COLREGS) without interfering with their naval functions. The certificate serves to warn mariners in waters where 72 COLREGS apply. The certificate is effective August 4, 2026, and applicable from November 14, 2025.
