NASA Ames seeks Vicon Valkyrie VK6 Camera system (16 cameras) with installation, training, and accessories (sole source to VICON MOTION SYSTEMS, INC.)

NASA Ames Planetary Aeolian Laboratory is seeking to procure a Vicon Valkyrie VK6 Camera motion capture system for real-time 6DoF rotor tracking during spin-up testing. - The procurement is intended as a sole source to VICON MOTION SYSTEMS, INC., but NASA is accepting capability statements from other vendors to assess competition. - The system includes: - 16 Vicon Valkyrie VK6 Cameras - Vicon Active Wands (IR Only, dual-sided) - Vicon Valkyrie Camera Cables (30 m) - Vicon Tracker 4.0 software - Vicon system warranty - Standard Pan/Tilt Head with clamp hardware - Tracker Accessory Kit - 24 port POE+/++ 720W unmanaged switch - Requirements include high-speed capture up to 2000Hz, low latency, stable operation in harsh environments, and integration with ROS2, MATLAB, and Simulink. - On-site installation, setup, and training by a Vicon engineer are required. - The procurement will be performed at NASA Ames Research Center under commercial item procedures (FAR Part 12), NAICS code 541511. - No specific period of performance is stated; interested parties may submit qualifications by August 6, 2026.

Synopsis:

NASA/NSSC has a requirement for Vicon Valkyrie VK6 Camera system include delivery, installation, and training.    

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to VICON MOTION SYSTEMS, INC. 12650 E Arapahoe RD STE 200 Centennial, Colorado 80112-4844, United States  under the authority of FAR 12.102(a). It has been determined that VICON MOTION SYSTEMS, INC.  is the sole provider of Vicon Valkyrie VK6 Camera system include delivery, installation, and training.

NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Ames Research Center (ARC).

The Government intends to acquire Commercial items or services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 for Commercial

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 541511.

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 8/6/2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
