The Self-Locking Cap Screw contains non-metallic materials meeting NAVSEA SS800-AG-MAN-010/P-9290 toxicity and flammability requirements. Use of other materials requires engineering approval and testing. Self-Locking screws must be marked with six dots, distinguishable from all other markings, placed on the head perimeter. Wedge Tensile Test specimens must be separate fasteners for each lot, tested according to specified standards. Testing procedures vary based on fastener size and grade, with specific wedge angles and testing methods. Fasteners less than 1/4-inch diameter use ASTM-A574 wedge angles.
