Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing for public comment the draft 2027 NPDES general permit for stormwater discharges from construction activities, known as the proposed 2027 Construction General Permit (CGP). This permit, if finalized, will replace the existing 2022 CGP expiring on February 17, 2027, and will be issued for five years. It covers eligible operators nationwide where EPA is the NPDES permitting authority, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, most Indian country lands, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories (excluding U.S. Virgin Islands), Lands of Exclusive Federal Jurisdiction, and certain other Federal areas. The EPA seeks public comment on the proposed permit and accompanying fact sheet, with comments due by September 2, 2026. A webinar will be hosted during the comment period to provide an overview and answer questions.
