This notice concerns the completion of an inventory of Native American human remains and funerary objects at St. Joseph Museums, Inc., in partnership with the Department of the Interior and National Park Service. - Government buyer: - Department of the Interior - National Park Service - St. Joseph Museums, Inc. - Inventory includes: - Human remains representing at least three individuals - 101 associated funerary objects, such as: - Wood - Faunal remains - Rocks - Lithics - Shells - Pottery sherds - Geodes - Metal sword - Items were collected from Bruce Cave (archaeological site 23PU44) and donated in 1957 - Cultural affiliation determined with the Osage Nation - Repatriation requests are open to culturally affiliated Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations - No hazardous materials are associated with the collection - Notice issued under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) - St. Joseph Museums, Inc. is responsible for determinations and the repatriation process

Description

The St. Joseph Museums, Inc. has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects and determined a cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The inventory includes human remains representing at least three individuals and 101 associated funerary objects such as wood, faunal remains, rocks, lithics, shells, pottery sherds, geodes, and a metal sword. These items were collected from Bruce Cave (23PU44) and donated in 1957. Repatriation may occur on or after September 2, 2026, to the Osage Nation or other culturally affiliated groups.
