The City of Carson is seeking bids for Project No. 1753, which covers the rehabilitation and improvement of University Drive between Avalon Blvd and Wilmington Ave. - Government Buyer: - City of Carson, Public Works Department, Purchasing Department - Scope of Work: - Rehabilitation of existing asphalt pavement using Asphalt Rubberized Hot Mix (ARHM) - Milling and overlay of roadway surfaces - Repair and reconstruction of concrete improvements: sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveway approaches, ADA-compliant curb ramps, and cross gutters - Traffic signal improvements, including replacement and testing of traffic signal detector loops and cabinet assemblies - Installation of new signage, striping, pavement markings, and traffic operation markers - Survey work: resetting centerline ties, permanent survey markers, and construction staking - Tree well modifications and median tree well reconstruction - Removal and replacement of stamped concrete and medians - Temporary traffic control, including steel plate bridging, detours, and pedestrian access - Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) implementation - Allowance for unforeseen conditions (e.g., unsuitable or saturated soil) - Notable Requirements: - Valid California State Contractor's License (Class A and C12) - Adherence to prevailing wage rates and Enhanced Electrical Safety Policy - Coordination with other ongoing city projects - Liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day for delays - All labor, materials, equipment, and services must be provided by the contractor - No specific OEMs or product manufacturers are named in the solicitation - All materials and construction methods must comply with Caltrans and City of Carson standards

Description

This project involves the rehabilitation of the existing asphalt pavement and repair/reconstruction of existing asphalt and concrete improvements including sidewalks, curb & gutter, driveways, back of driveways, curb ramps, and other related roadway infrastructure. The scope also includes replacing traffic signal detector loops, signing, striping, and pavement markings as specified in the plans and provisions. The work requires a valid California State Contractor's License with classifications "A" and "C12". The project has a liquidated damages clause of $1,000 per calendar day and a pre-bid meeting scheduled for August 6, 2026.
