Description
The solicitation is for a High Force Tensile Frame to support materials science and mechanical engineering research at the University of Waterloo under the CFI grant "Canadian Technology Accelerator for Digital Transformation of Manufacturing." The frame will be used in the short term for research into machining of gears, capable of testing cutting tool materials such as high strength steels and carbides, and gear materials. It must handle high rates of deformation and achieve relatively high crosshead speeds. In the medium and long term, the system will support research in welding, joining, and material characterization.
