The City of Cedar Rapids Public Works Department is seeking bids for the construction of a stormwater gatewell and floodgate to enhance flood control at the east end of 4th Avenue SW and 1st Street SW. - Government Buyer: - City of Cedar Rapids, Public Works Department, Engineering Office - Key Products and OEMs: - Stainless steel slide gate (7'-6" x 7'-0") - OEMs specified: RW Gate, Hydro Gate, Whipps (or engineer-approved equivalent) - Must meet AWWA and ASTM standards, include stainless steel frames, slides, seals, operating stems, anchor bolts, and manual operators - Full two-year warranty against defects required - Major Construction and Materials: - Gate well structure and slide gate installation - Excavation (952 CY), subbase (284 SY), and trench compaction testing - Removal and replacement of gas conduit, bollards, bike racks, light pole, and decorative rock - Sanitary and storm sewer installation and removal (HDPE and RCP, various sizes) - Pavement and sidewalk removal and installation (asphalt, PCC, curb and gutter) - Painted pavement markings (durable and methyl methacrylate), grooves for markings - Temporary traffic control, sodding, fencing (decorative and chain link), tree protection - Construction survey and mobilization - Notable Requirements: - Compliance with Iowa SUDAS and Cedar Rapids General Supplemental Specifications - Mandatory bid bond and pre-bid conference - Project is exempt from Iowa and local sales and use taxes - Equal employment opportunity and drug-free workplace compliance - Liquidated damages of $500/day for late completion - Engineer's estimated project cost: $390,000 - Period of Performance: - Early start permitted, with milestone for substantial completion (excluding sodding/seeding) and final completion deadline - Liquidated damages apply for delays
