The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), through its Office of Indian Economic Development (OIED), is seeking a recipient for the NATIVE Act Tribal Tourism Cooperative Agreement to support tribal and Native Hawaiian tourism initiatives. - Government Buyer: - Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Office of Indian Economic Development (OIED) - Scope of Work: - Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations - Deliver tools, strategies, and expertise to enhance and grow cultural heritage tourism activities and destinations - Facilitate coordination between the Department of the Interior, Department of Commerce, and other federal agencies - Deliver targeted technical assistance to approximately 60 tribal and Native Hawaiian entities - Support tourism development that respects native traditions and cultural heritage - Include one Hawaii-based staff member for in-person support - Funding and Duration: - Total funding available: $1,500,000 - Initial one-year period, with possible continuation for up to four additional years (maximum five years) - No cost sharing or matching required - Eligibility: - Indian Tribes, Tribal Organizations, Tribal Colleges or Universities, institutions of higher education, and nonprofits (with or without 501(c)(3) status) - Notable Requirements: - Recipient will serve as a facilitator for federal coordination in tourism planning and implementation - Emphasis on supporting tourism that honors native traditions and cultural heritage - No specific OEMs or commercial vendors are named, as this is a service-based cooperative agreement

Description

The NATIVE Act cooperative agreement supports the Tribal Tourism Grant Program (TTGP) and Office of Native Hawaiian Relations (ONHR) applicants, including Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations. The agreement focuses on identifying technical assistance needs and delivering targeted capacity-building support to expand cultural heritage tourism and increase visitation. The selected recipient will provide tools, strategies, and expertise to enhance and grow tourism activities and destinations, while facilitating coordination between the Department of the Interior and the Department of Commerce in planning and implementation. Awards are made for an initial one-year budget period with possible continuation funding for up to four additional years, contingent on performance and funding availability.
